Synonyms BMP-2, BMP2A.
Type Mouse Anti Human Monoclonal.
Introduction BMP2 belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. Bone morphogenic protein induces bone formation. BMP2 is a candidate gene for the autosomal dominant disease of fibrodysplasia (myositis) ossificans progressiva.
Background Bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) is a member of the transforming growth factor beta(TGF-f3) superfamily.
It can induce bone formation and regeneration during early embryonic development.
BMP-2 is synthesized as large precursor molecule firstly and the mature protein is secreted by proteolytic cleavage. Natural mature BMP-2 monomer has 114 amino acid residues and has no biological function unless it turns into dimmer. It's assumed that mature BMP-2 forms a cysteine knot with seven conserved cysteine residues. The active form can consist of a dimmer of two identical proteins or a heterodimer of two related bone morphogenetic proteins.
Source The BMP-2 antibody was prepared by affinity chromatography from ascites of BALB/c mouseinoculated by a hybridoma cell that secreted anti- BMP-2 monoclonal antibodies.
Host Mouse.
Purity Greater than 90%, analysed by reducing SDS-PAGE.
Formulation Samples are lyophilized in sterile PBS buffers.
