Introduction Parainfluenza virus, PIV, contains a group of four distinct serotypes of single-stranded RNA viruses belonging to the paramyxovirus family and two subtypes (4a and 4b). Parainfluenza viruse is a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA viruse that possess fusion and hemagglutinin-neuraminidase glycoprotein "spikes" on their surface. The virion varies in size (average diameter between 150 and 300 nm) and shape. 

Description Allantoic fluid of 10 days old embryonated eggs, inoculated with parainfluenza-1 virus, strain Sendai. The Parainfluenza-1 Virus was purified by Ultracentrifugation with 20-60 % sucrose gradient. 

Inactivation  Thimerosal and beta propiolactone treatment

This product has been treated in a manner consistent with methods of inactivation. Generally accepted good laboratory practices appropriate to microbiological/viral safe handling practices and techniques are required at work. 

Physical Appearance  Sterile Filtered colorless solution FormulationThe Parainfluenza type-1 solution contains 0.1M NaCl, 10mM Tris Hcl, 1mM EDTA pH-8, and 0.1 % sodium azide (NaN3). 

Stability  Parainfluenza type-1 although stable 4°C for 4 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C.

Purity Greater than 90.0% as determined byAnalysis by SDS-PAGE.
